The preservation of Puuhonua o Wailupe marks a significant moment for the community and the environment. Pu'uhonua o Wailupe had our monthly workday on May 31, 2026 after the storms and flooding the grass needed cutting. We planted a wiliwili tree on Wiliwilinui ridge. Volunteers ranged from 4 to 50 years. The work continued till sun down ending with awa and sharing of stories about the sacredness of the area and struggle to protect this place and our iwi kupuna.

In February, 2026, Pu'uhonua o Wailupe was proud to host our youth and share the mo'olelo of this place we love so much. This was an amazing day as we expanded our work further up Ma Uka and taught our youth how to respect the final resting place of our Kupuna (Elders).
