Our Board is made of up of descendants, protectors, and caretakers of Wailupe who are from the community. Each member brings a unique expertise to the Board.
President
Michael Hikalea
Direct lineal descendant of the kupuna buried at Wailupe. He can trace his genealogy to Wailupe prior to the arrival of Captain Cook in 1778 and holds much of the oral history of this place and surrounding areas.

Malia Marquez
Malia is a Kanaka Maoli cultural practitioner of East O'ahu, an advocate of Hawai'i's precious resources, marine life, and sacred places including traditional Hawaiian burials.
Secretary
Healani Sonoda-Pale, MEd
Healani is a Kanaka Maoli educator of 30 plus years, community organizer and leader who has stood in protection of Hawaiian lands, water, intellectual property rights, and iwi kupuna.

James "Jimmy" Auld
Jimmy is a small business owner, contractor, taro farmer and community organizer who is a cultural descendant of the iwi kupuna of Wailupe.

Wayne Tanaka, JD
Wayne is an environmental attorney who has advocated for the protection of Hawai'i's lands, water and natural resources for many years.

Chris is a cultural practitioner who has successfully advocated for the protection of traditional fishponds. Chris resides in East O'ahu and currently serves as the historical advisor to Pu'uhonua o Wailupe.
